This is a module release that is an example how good things can go bad very quickly. Version 04.00.02 of the module was meant to be a quick release around the time of OpenForce Europe 2008 (October 2008), with just some minor changes.

Issues with testing, packaging and just wrong timing caused this module to take 6 months to be released. Let’s just say we will try harder next time to prevent this!

Anyhow, this release is just a small one. Notably most important is the fix for the issue with the Turkish I issue, where uppercase I is a different character than lowercase i. See here for technical background on this issue: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms973919.aspx#stringsinnet20_topic5.

Apart from this bug fix, this version also sees a few small but useful enhancements. The first one is that module admins can not change the default view of the announcements list from "current" to "expired", "future" or "all". The second one is that publish date and expire date can now be set time specific, which will allow module editors to more precisely decide when a specific announcement should be visible to visitors.

A complete list of fixes and enhancements can be found here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/project/ChangeLog.aspx?PROJID=8

As usual, you can download this version from the DotNetNuke downloads page at downloads.dotnetnuke.com
