Wiki resubmitted to the release tracker

I was finally able to get the last kink worked out of the next Wiki release and submitted it to the release tracker today. You can follow along as it proceeds through the process by visiting this page.

I'll blog about the module and new features/bug fixes as it progresses through the release process over the next few weeks.

St. Louis .Net user group meeting last night

Last night I presented at the local .Net user group monthly meeting. I presented on DotNetNuke Module Development using WAP (Web Application Projects).

I think it went over well, there were quite a number of people in attendance, rough guess 40-50 people. I've presented at the local .Net group a number of times before, this time however when I asked if anyone had heard of DNN, 99% of the room raised their hands, quite a change from the previous meetings. Perhaps this was because I've spoken there before, but most of the group looked like new faces to me, so seeing that people know what DNN is is a great start for a presentation.

I think the presentation went over well, I got some good feedback afterwards and I think I was successful in bringing over some new developers to the DNN side of the world. Hopefully they will start attending some of our local DNN User Group meetings, www.dnnug.com.

You can download last night's presentation here.

Documents Module Released (04.00.00)

Last month I jumped up and helped with getting a documents module release together. Most of the development was already complete and the packaging and release process needed to be completed. We did find a few bugs with the code and fixed those issues, packaged the module and put it into the release process.

Here are the release notes that were submitted to the tracker.

An Understanding of the DotNetNuke Search

With the 3.0 release of DotNetNuke, way back in March of 2005 searching was implemented in the project, after a hiatus in the 2.* releases.

Since then, not much has changed with the search, though it is still a very mysterious system for most users and developers. I hope to clear up some of the mystery with this blog post.

Documents Module 04.00.00 Submitted to the Release Tracker

Last week I volunteered to help the 04.00.00 release of the Documents module get submitted to the release tracker. I spent some time over the last few days trying to get the project cleaned up and submitted.

I submitted 04.00.00 to the tracker this afternoon. I'll post another blog later in the release process assuming the module makes it over the hurdles with ease. Thanks to everyone on the Documents module team who has worked on this over the past year. I know Anthony put a lot of time in it but due to other forces wasn't able to get it buttoned up and submitted to the tracker.

Basic Description of the new release: A few bug fixes, new features include new sorting functionality and the ability to define a list of categories based on a DNN list.

Today is a Leap Day! 317 days ago.....

317 days ago I submitted the 04.00.01 release of the Wiki module into the DNN Project Release process. I am ashamed af that fact. It has been way too long between release submissions.

However, I am proud to say that the next version of the DotNetNuke Wiki Module 04.01.00 has been submitted to the release tracker! There's always a chance it will get kicked out of the tracker for a problem, but those problems should be minimal. I would hope to see the module officially released sometime in the next month.

When the release makes it through the process I will be sure to highlight some of the changes to the changes to the module. For now though you can check out the project in Gemini to see some of the bug fixes and new features.

Quick Wiki Update

I know there are some folks out there looking for a Wiki update! Here it is, though it's not likely what you want to read :) The Wiki module hasn't made much progress over the past few weeks. I did implement some code changes from Stefan Cullman, but haven't had a chance to finish up the testing on these changes and get a release together. My hope is to be able to get some of that done next week and try to get the module into the release cycle. This weekend I'm off to start my racing season in Adel Georgia, a long drive for what will amount to probably 8 minutes of racing, but I'm excited to get the car out and see how I can do.

Next week I'll be back to work on the Wiki.
