Hello,

Is it possible to embed images into the email notifications?

Right now, if someone is tracking a forum and they receive an HTML email, there is a space for any images, but they are not shown.

The images are linking to the website, and because the site requires authentication, the images cannot be displayed.

Is there any way we can embed the images in the HTML emails, so users can immediately see the email with pics?

Thanks.

Embed images are not supported.  The only way you can do is to give all users view permissions to the folders where the images ae uploaded.  This is by security design.

All attachments are placed in a "Forum Attachments" folder and all users have view (and write) permissions to this folder.

However, we have other external authentication (not just the DNN login) so users cannot access the website, or view links to these images, unless they log into the website.

So the only way around it would be to embed the images in the HTML emails before sending them. Is there no way to do this?

It is a design issue in the Text Editor, which is a 3rd parity module.  The users can add the domain name in front of the URL on adding the image, so the images can be viewed on the notifications too.  I think this is the only solution.

We can not change the source code of the editor.

Matthias is right, that this is not a limitation of the Forums module, however, it is neither caused by FCKEditor itself nor it's provide for DNN, but the surrounding texteditor control, which is part of DNN core, does not properly strip paths, to readd it when sending the mail.

DNN mail function currently does not support embedding images as MME components, only linking it on the web server.
