Backup and restore to new server

I thought I followed the procedures correctly but the new installation still points to the old installation.

Old installation:  http://www.websites2005.com/cms

New installation:  http://www.wetbrains.com/cms

Steps I did:

  1. Backed up the database from the old
  2. Restored the database to the new.
  3. Edited the web.config file for the host name, database name and database password.

What am I missing?

Re: Backup and restore to new server

You missed changing the portal alias in the PortalAlias DB table. Do that and restart the app and you should be good.

Let us know.

Re: Backup and restore to new server

This did make a difference, but then I got this error message:

Module Load Warning
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

Re: Backup and restore to new server

If you can login and check the Event Viewer, does it provide more information about which module(s) are causing the problem?
