Transferring Sites & Photo Gallery (newbie)

Greetings,
My team is new to the DNN world and we have a few basic questions.

1)      Let’s say we have a client and we build their website using DNN and we even build a few custom modules for them.  Now let’s say that for some reason they don’t want to host with us anymore… maybe they don’t like our pricing or they want to move the website to their own server.
Does the site have to built from scratch again or is there some way to migrate the site?
What about user data?  Is there a way to migrate the users or shopping cart, etc.?
If there’s not, then isn’t a company bound to their host to the point that it may be too expensive to move hosts?   That could be a plus but I want to avoid any lawsuits.

2)      We’re going to be using 4.x and we have a client that wants a photo gallery but with some specific options.  First, they want only USERS A & B to see the photos.  Then, on some of the photos, they want several text links to appear but only for USERS B.  They also want the photos showing up so that the latest ones they add are shown first.
Does anyone know of a module that will handle this?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Transferring Sites & Photo Gallery (newbie)

Hi Rob,

ad 1) please have a look at the sticky post in the install it! forum, how to transfer a conplete site, it is mainly copying the files and the database.

ad 2) you will need a 3rd party commercial module, there are some very powerful ones out there on the market, though I am not sure, if any of it has the feature you needs.
