Upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.3.5, now no host or admin menu on login 

Upgraded from 2.2.1 to 3.3.5, development machine works perfect, move to production server and all works except when I login it redirects back as though i didn't login at all, no error or anything just back to the previous page with the login link there again and no other authenticated menus or options showing.

Any ideas? Permissions are fine on the directory, haven't checked much else, I did re-install asp.net 1.1 and 2.0 but haven't done anything with IIS
