302 redirect after going through all google solution...

I have an existing install of dnn at godaddy.  I am moving it on to our own server.   I added an portal alias, then backed up the database.  Downloaded the file, created the virtual dir, restore db, fixed user security, etc.  When I go to testme.local, it just does a 302 redirect to itself over and over.   I tried to remove all the portalalias except for this one.   rss.aspx works fine so the db connection is ok.  I am running on Windows 2000 server.  Ideas?  I am just trying to browse from localhost.

Did you update IIS and your local DNS so that they know how to handle the testme.local alias?

Re: 302 redirect after going through all google solution...

Yes.  Otherwise it wouldn't be doing the 302 redirect, nor would rss.aspx work.  Here's something even stranger.  When I reload the page, four possible thing can happen.  It will either redirect over and over, give me the correct content, give me a red error message or redirect me to the install wizard.  It does this randomly!  Even after stop/start IIS/W3SVC.  Also of note is if I get the red error message, it takes all the other sites offline too.
