how to pass user credentials to swf on a page

Hi,

I installed DNN 4.8.4 and learned I can create pages. I am trying to figure out if its possible for me (while rendering contents on my page) to know the user credentials (user name  and password)  and appropriately pass it to, say, a flash/swf file ? I intend to embed a swf file in one of the pages via javascript, configure it as well via javascripts. One of the need is to also pass user credentials to the swf file but I don't know how I can get it from the aspx page created by DNN for me.

Can someone explain if what I am trying to do is possible without code changes in DNN  ?

thanks,

Hassan

Re: how to pass user credentials to swf on a page

if you activate TokenReplace in a text/html module (in the module settings), you can display the current username with this token: [User:Username]. You use this token to pass this to a flash file. Passwords cannot be passed due to security issues

Anyhow, you might think again about the way you are implementing your flash application. Passing usernames and passwords is a major security risk At the minimum you would need to encrypt those values!

Thanks for this info. I do remember seeing TokenReplace thing but wasn't sure what it is for. Will give this a try now.

And yes, I had doubts about passing password as well. I will probably be able to do without it.
