Create new website

Hi All

I have windows XP. I have installed DotNetNuke in the folder F:\dotnetnuke. Then I have created a virtual directory dnn and mapped it to that folder.
I have two Portal Aliases - i) localhost/dnn (default) ii)192.168.169.8/dnn( I have added, so that I can see my page from other machine).

Now I want to create another website( no parent portal) whose address will be localhost/nuke and 192.168.169.8/nuke. As DotNetNuke framework and database setup is already done. What will do to create that site ?  Will I create an another folder F:\my_dotnetnuke & copy the installation file to that folder and then create a virtual directory nuke to map to that folder( which we normally do for asp.net pages) ?

Regards.

Re: Create new website

This would be a second installation of DNN since you don't want a portal.  That means a new install and a new database OR use of a database modifier, which can be problematic.

Re: Create new website

using a single database for multiple DNN installations using different Object Qualifiers has become more difficult since DNN started using MS Membership component, which needs to be shared. I strongly suggest to use seperate databases instead.

Re: Create new website

Thanks. So for each website I need new database.  I have to follow the same procedure, what I have done when I have first installed DotNetNuke. No optimization.

Re: Create new website

You need a separate Database for each DotNetNuke installation, which can host dozends (or even hundreds) of web sites (parent portals).
