4.6.2 to 4.9 Problem

 Hey all,

Just upgraded a hosted site from 4.6.2 to 4.9 and now the site won't load. The browser just sits their loading forever. I originally did the upgrade package and the database updates took, then this problem started and I tried using the install package to no avail. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated as I need to get this site back up ASAP.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Re: 4.6.2 to 4.9 Problem

I've got a couple of ideas, based on mistakes I've made in the past.  I'm sure there are many other things that could go wrong :)

1. Did you overwrite your production web.config?
2. Did you compare you web.config with the release.config in the update package and add any new items?

HTH,
Scott

Re: 4.6.2 to 4.9 Problem

Changed out the connection strings in the release.config then copied it over the web.config. Now I am getting a different error.

Re: 4.6.2 to 4.9 Problem

Got passed the error, I think. I wiped the directory except for my portals/0 and put the 4.9 install up there. Now when I go to the home page in Firefox I get this:

Redirect Loop

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.

    * Have you disabled or blocked cookies required by this site?
    * NOTE: If accepting the site's cookies does not resolve the problem, it is likely a server configuration issue and not your computer.

AHHH!!! This is a hosted solution how can I fix it? Can't run full trust.

Re: 4.6.2 to 4.9 Problem

make sure to grant necessary permission for user "Network service" on all files and subfolders.

I hope, you did NOT delete portals and desktop modules folders as well as module bin files from /bin and /app_code directory.
