Upgrading to 4.09 

I'm not anywhere near technically adept at this so it's been a slow process for me and I have an adequate site up and running fairly smoothly now for two years.  I see that I'm running 4.04.01 and their is an upgrade for 4.09.  Can I jump the intermediate updates and go straight to 4.09 or should I upgrade from the lowest to highest version gradually?

upgrade from 4.4.1 shall be possible in a single step, e.g following this check list. Don't forget to backup site and database first.
