Error creating a Child Portal - ".template is not a valid Portal Template File."
Modified By raghu pandey on 10/20/2007 7:00:31 AM)

Hi,

i am using DNN 4.5.5. I exported a template from a child portal which is running fine on my website, and it was created successfully with the following message:

The Portal Template Has Been Created to D:\dotnetnuke\Portals\_default\Child_1_template(20-10-07).template

But when i tried to create a new child portal by choosing Child_1_template(20-10-07), after clicking "Create Portal" i got the following error:

Child_1_template(20-10-07).template is not a valid Portal Template File.

Validation Results
The element 'tab' has invalid child element 'issecure'. List of possible elements expected: 'panes, parent, tabtype'.
The element 'tab' has invalid child element 'issecure'. List of possible elements expected: 'panes, parent, tabtype'.
The element 'tab' has invalid child element 'issecure'. List of possible elements expected: 'panes, parent, tabtype'.
The element 'tab' has invalid child element 'issecure'. List of possible elements expected: 'panes, parent, tabtype'. ... (this message repeated several times)

I don't know where the problem is.. can somebody please advise me on this.

Any inputs shall be greatly appreciated,

Raghu

I worked around this a little while ago. All I did was open the XML template (notepad is fine) and removed the <issecure>false</issecure> elements.

Hi Cjsmitty.. many thanks!

that worked :)

While searching on forums i also found a solution by John Mitchell - "Not a valid Portal Template File fix for DNN4.5", - this works when you do want to transfer <issecure>...</issecure> details onto your new portal through template file.

Thanks again...

Raghu
