remove extension .aspx with redirect

Is there anyway to have an URL with no extension typed automatically redirect to the correct address.

Example:  If a visitor types in the address bar or clicks a link to:

www.upgradetogeek.com/blog

it automatically redirects to

www.upgradetogeek.com/blog.aspx

It's OK for the address bar to show the address with the .aspx extension.  I was thinking of using siteurls.config but have been unsuccessful.

Thank you,

D.

Re: remove extension .aspx with redirect

there are 3rd party modules available at the MarketPlace and Snowcovered, to achieve your goal.

Re: remove extension .aspx with redirect

Here's why what you want won't work within DNN.  IIS processes URLs based on the extension.  Extensionless files cannot be processed as ASP.NET files, unless you do a wildcard mapping to the ASPNET.DLL in IIS.  That would mean EVERY file is processed as an ASP.NET file, which isn't what you want.  And until the file is processed as ASP.NET, DNN can't do anything about it, since DNN is a third party app.

This needs to happen in an ISAPI filter, before IIS processes the extension.  Fortunately, ISAPIRewrite can do this and is already available.  See www.isapirewrite.com.
