restrict access to admin activities??

I have a group of people who will become 'site editors' on our DNN site -- they can modify text/html pages, add/edit some modules, etc.

They also have to be able to add images to the site as necessary.

How would it be possible for me to enable them access to the File Manager for the purpose of uploading files to image directories on the DNN site (and also creating those directories in File Manager)?? -- but NOT to anything else in the Admin menu??

Or is there some other way for me to manage this?? I don't want them to have to email me etc. every time they want an image directory created or an image file uploaded...

Thank you, Tom

Re: restrict access to admin activities??

Tom,

you can create an "Editors" role with edit permission on (selected) pages and upload (edit) permission to selected folders. There are 3rd party modules as well with enhanced file management capabilities. DotNetNuke 5 shall be improved in this area due to decoupling admin modules, but I am not sure, if DNN 5.0 will already be handling this area.

Re: restrict access to admin activities??

File management within the editor will also allow them to upload files there.  It is not as efficient as the file manager (particularly if bulk upload is desired) but should address the immediate need.  I believe that if they have edit access to a folder that they should also be able to create new folders BENEATH that as well... although I am not 100% certain of that without looking.
