Scheduler Changes through DB? 

Hi,

I'm running several DNN sites at different versions (4.0.0 - 4.8.0). I read Mitchel Sellers scheduler article and I wanted to make changes to the scheduling in all my sites (I want them all to match). Can I make it easier by running  a query in my DB on the various sites? Which table(s) is/are involved? Which fields are necessary? I'm junior level in terms of SQL administration :(

Ryan,

I would personally recommend that you make the changes via the interface.  It is your safest bet when making the changes.  It can be done via SQL, but you REALLY need to know what you are doing if you are modifying the database directly!

I understand that like a lot of things in DNN the interface is the safest, but I really need a better way to do mass changes on the site schedulers. Of course I'd be performing changes on the development versions of the sites and doing testing before applying the same changes on production.

I do have support from my DBA if I'm unsure, so if you can tell me how the changes can be made via SQL I'd be greatful.

As long as you understand the risks involved you can work with the data directly via the "Schedule" table.  You will most likely want to key any updates on the "TypeFullName" column as that is the full name of the type that contains the process.  This is the easiest way.

What I would recommend is to take a snapshot of the table as it is, then manually modify one installation, you can then compare the new setup of the table to edit the entries as needed and then generate a re-usable SQL Script to make needed changes in the future.
