LOGIN HELP - PLEASE!!!

Okay, I'm not sure what happened from what I've been doing the last two weeks to today, but today I cannot get the login screen to appear to administer the site.  The link I was using to access my site was:

http://www.<mysite>.com/Admin/SiteSettings/tabid/39/ctl/Login/Default.aspx?returnurl=%2fAdmin%2fSiteSettings%2ftabid%2f39%2fDefault.aspx

and it's worked fine.

The error I get today is:

"Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

And the URL is replaced with:

http://www.<mysite>.com/Default.aspx?tabid=110&returnurl=%2fDefault.aspx%3ftabid%3d110%26returnurl%3d%252fDefault.aspx%253ftabid%253d110%2526returnurl%253d%25252fDefault.aspx%25253ftabid%25253d110%252526returnurl%25253d%2525252fDefault.aspx%2525253ftabid%2525253d110%25252526returnurl%2525253d%252525252fDefault.aspx%252525253ftabid%252525253d110%2525252526returnurl%252525253d%25252525252fDefault.aspx%25252525253ftabid%25252525253d110%252525252526returnurl%25252525253d%2525252525252fDefault.aspx%2525252525253ftabid%2525252525253d110%25252525252526returnurl%2525252525253d%252525252525252fDefault.aspx%252525252525253ftabid%252525252525253d110%2525252525252526returnurl%252525252525253d%25252525252525252fDefault.aspx%25252525252525253ftabid%25252525252525253d110%252525252525252526returnurl%25252525252525253d%2525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%2525252525252525253ftabid%2525252525252525253d110%25252525252525252526returnurl%2525252525252525253d%252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%252525252525252525253ftabid%252525252525252525253d110%2525252525252525252526returnurl%252525252525252525253d%25252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%25252525252525252525253ftabid%25252525252525252525253d110%252525252525252525252526returnurl%25252525252525252525253d%2525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%2525252525252525252525253ftabid%2525252525252525252525253d110%25252525252525252525252526returnurl%2525252525252525252525253d%252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%252525252525252525252525253ftabid%252525252525252525252525253d110%2525252525252525252525252526returnurl%252525252525252525252525253d%25252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%25252525252525252525252525253ftabid%25252525252525252525252525253d110%252525252525252525252525252526returnurl%25252525252525252525252525253d%2525252525252525252525252525252fManage%2525252525252525252525252525252ftabid%2525252525252525252525252525252f110%2525252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%2525252525252525252525252525253freturnurl%2525252525252525252525252525253d%252525252525252525252525252525252fManage%252525252525252525252525252525252ftabid%252525252525252525252525252525252f110%252525252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%252525252525252525252525252525253freturnurl%252525252525252525252525252525253d%25252525252525252525252525252525252fManage%25252525252525252525252525252525252ftabid%25252525252525252525252525252525252f110%25252525252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx%25252525252525252525252525252525253freturnurl%25252525252525252525252525252525253d%2525252525252525252525252525252525252fManage%2525252525252525252525252525252525252ftabid%2525252525252525252525252525252525252f110%2525252525252525252525252525252525252fDefault.aspx

After reading this thread and searching for others with my problem, I've not located any threads that have this problem.  I've also appended ?ctl=login to the end of the url and still had no success.  I've also tried the address in IE and had the similar response.

I have access to the ftp server to upload files if necessary.

Any help in the right direction will save some serious hair pulling on my end.

Cheers!

Re: LOGIN HELP - PLEASE!!!

I would reboot the server (and the PC) before trying anything else.

Aside from the problem logging in, does the site work okay otherwise?  How about a regular login without redirection to the Admin page?

By the way, why are you using that long URL to login instead of just logging in from the main page and navigate through the menu?

Carlos

Re: LOGIN HELP - PLEASE!!!

Carlos -

Thanks for your response.  I've rebooted my PC and the server is being hosted off-site, so I'm not sure I can actually reboot that.

The site works fine outside of the login page.

I never had a "regular login" outside of the admin page.  I was hoping someone might be able to direct me to some sort of content or to "throw" a page up on the server via ftp to fix whatever is broken.

I was using that long url (the first one) as a link I had just dragged and dropped on my browser links.  The longer one is being created on re-direction, which looks to be the source of the problem.  Would you agree?

Thanks again for your response.  I look forward to more help!

Re: LOGIN HELP - PLEASE!!!

What version are you using?  What was the last change you made to the site?

Re: LOGIN HELP - PLEASE!!!

Ironically, another discussion within this forum had a similar problem.  I had forgotten that the day before I tried working with a login page and didn't have any success in making it work.  I didn't know, however, that it would impact the ability for me to access the admin area.  Here is the solution:

http://blogs.snapsis.com/PermaLink,guid,3078311e-6925-4c03-8243-d1b9c8a11906.aspx

Thanks for all your help!

Cheers,
