Registration Required fields - appear twice!

Hello all,

we have added some fields under the registration page and we use the profile section as a valid method

for registration. Now, at the top, there are some fields that appear even if we didn't check that they should be visible or required

under the user's profile. These are: USERNAME, NAME, LAST NAME, DISPLAY NAME and EMAIL ADDRESS.

Under the user's profile, we can't delete the 'name' and 'last name' fields. If however, we mark them as visible, they appear twice

on the registration page.

What we want is to take make the username, name, last name fields optional and not required. If we mark them as visible/optional/required

they appear twice on the registration page.

Does anyone know a workaround on this problem?

Thanks!

Re: Registration Required fields - appear twice!

To do that you'll need a registration module such as dynamic registration. I really suggest this if you are doing anything but the most basic of adjustments to the user profile.

Hi,

thanks for your response. Yes, I do have this module. However, I am still interested to understand what the problem with these

fields is. I'm sure there's a way to disable them from appearing... but how?

Re: Registration Required fields - appear twice!

the truth in storage is username display name password etc... are stored in the the user table not in the userprofile table and each value is required for a record to be inserted into the table all other values that follow that section are stored in the user profile table. The reality is they are separate control henace the reason you can show and hide from one set but not fromthis core set. It is not regarded as a bug but rather a deliberate design omission as DNN requries each of these fields to create a user.

You can hide them is you use the dynamic registration system. But the reality is hiding them simply means assigning either another field to them or a dummy value.

hope that helps to explain

John
