Re: auto email exception

Hi Mark,

I'm no email expert, or DNN expert for that matter, but my guess is that your admin email address is @ the domain for which your configured SMTP server handles mail, whereas your user's email addresses probably are not. In other words, the SMTP server you have configured will only handle email for one domain and will not forward mail for any other domain.

You probably need to find an alternative SMTP server, or possibly reconfigure the SMTP server you have.

Hope this helps, Rhys.

Re: auto email exception

Thanks for the reply.

I am really lost when it comes to this. The relay was working one day then not the next. my set up is as follows.
My domain is on Godaddy, it is pointed to my server. the email account is on godaddy. our server is using the godaddy relay in an exchange server account.
This is frustratng because like I said it worked two days ago, then ....kaboom

Thanks to anyone who can provide further insight on this problem

Re: auto email exception
Modified By Mark Hollas on 5/8/2008 10:20:24 AM)

here is something odd. no matter what password I place in the SMTP server setting in Host setting, after running a test of the account the password is reset to real password (the number of black dots goes back to the same number as the real password) and every test of the SMTP works..... this doesn't seem like correct behaviour.....any thoughts?

AND I just tested. I deleted the SMTP port and the username fields and the test mails are still sending... I am getting them in my mailbox......

Mark
