logo not showing anymore

I thought i would try to change the background-color on the header so i went into site settings and then to the stylesheet editor and placed some css in the background color for the header at the top of the page. Now my header has completely disapeared.

where has it gone and how to i get it back? i have tried removing the css and also even reloading the default css file.

please let me know how i can get the image header back.

TIA

Re: logo not showing anymore

You might have to refresh the cache to reload the settings in the restored css stylesheet.  I have had caching get me a couple of time when making changes and then they appear to not show up.

Re: logo not showing anymore

Whoops .

Without knowing more about your setup it's hard to be specific, but here's a couple of things you could try.

  • If you are placing an image into a skin placeholder then make sure the entries in Site Settings, Basic Settings, Appearance, Logo are correct. Make sure the image is where these entries say it will be.
  • If you think you might have messed up portal.css then a guaranteed way to undo any changes is to delete all of the content, i.e. make it a blank empty file. If you have any other changes in portal.css then PLEASE COPY THE FILE BEFORE YOU DELETE IT'S CONTENTS!!!
  • If still no joy then try using Firebug, the Firefox dev tool, and inspect the css in the header area - it might show you where the correct styles are being overridden by something else.

Make sure you use refresh in your browser and confirm that it is indeed picking up the updated file if things still don't work.

Good luck, Rhys.

Re: logo not showing anymore

By header, do you mean the logo image?

If you access and then update a portal's site settings by reaching ithe page via the Host, Portals menu of another portal, you will lose the target portal's logo setting. I think this was fixed in 4.8.something, but it was certainly going on in a few previous versions. Perhaps that is what has happened.

The solution is to upgrade and/or only apply site settings when directly signed into the target portal.
