Child Portal not working using supplier.mydomain.com please help

I just got a child portal setup. The primary is not my main site. So, I am trying to point to a child domain called supplier.mydomain.com. I have tried creating a subdomain in my DNS settings to point to the path where my child domain answers. This does not work. I have added the alias to my child portal as supplier.mydomain.com and I get a DNN error so i know it's almost there. Please help. This site is hosted on GoDaddy.com if that helps.

The resource cannot be found.

Re: Child Portal not working using supplier.mydomain.com please help

Assuming the primary domain is mydomain.com (or www.mydomain.com) then supplier.mydomain.com isn't a child, it's a parent.  A child would be www.mydomain.com/supplier.

Re: Child Portal not working using supplier.mydomain.com please help

Ok, let me lay it out better.

Primary site is www.mysite.com <- Not DNN

DNN site is www.mysite.com/DNN

Now, i have a currently setup child portal at www.mysite.com/dnn/supplierportal

I would like the supplier portal to answer at supplier.mysite.com can you tell me what exactly I need to do? I setup a subdomain to point to my supplierportal but maybe I need to set itup to point to the top level dnn site which I'm thinking ould then pass it on to supplier.mysite.com.

Am i thinking right here? i appreciate your help.

Re: Child Portal not working using supplier.mydomain.com please help

Hi

That's a DNS entry, where you need to change with your DNS provider to point supplier.mysite.com to www.mysite.com/dnn/suppplierportal.

Hope that helps.

Re: Child Portal not working using supplier.mydomain.com please help

It's not a DNS issue, since the supplier host still has to point to the IP that DNN answers on.  But you can add supplier.mysite.com as a portal alias in your child portal and requests will be directed to the child portal.  The URL will not stay the same in the browser though.
