hiding or encrpting source?

Hi there,

I know there are traditional ways use javascripts to disable right-click, or to encrypt source code into Javascripts unicode. Is there anything in DNN or ASP.Net to hide aspx page code when people try to "View"- > "Source"?

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Re: hiding or encrpting source?

Unless there is something mis configured with the server a site visitor shouldn't be able to view the actual source of the aspx/ascx pages.  They should only see the generated HTML.

You can use the same javascripts to stop the right click just put them in your skin.  As to stopping people doing a "View"- > "Source" I don't know a way of doing that anyway if they are to view the page in thier browser the source has to be downloaded onto thier machine for thier browser to display the page.

It's built into the framework.  ASPX code is never served to the client, only the HTML rendered by the ASPNET.DLL is sent to the client.  Provided you didn't misconfigure your server of course.

Re: hiding or encrpting source?

Would the rendered html be a security concern? e.g. hacker make use of the bits and pieces from the source to break in.

Any comments?

Re: hiding or encrpting source?

the rendered HTML can only be used to create a similar site under a different address as a fake - but there is no protection against it. All relevant stuff like passwords is not delivered with html.
