I know there are several methods to help mask a mailto: email address from spammers, but I was wondering if there was a module or some other method specific to DNN that I haven't seen.

Barring that, any suggestions for a method to mask would be great. I was just going to use javascript. But there are email addresses in several places on our site, it would be nice if there were a more global means.

dotnetnuke has a method built in, that is used e.g. in USerDefinedTable when displaying data of type email.

You can do it with the Free PageBlaster.

<searchFor><![CDATA[href=['"]?mailto:(\w+[a-zA-Z0-9.\-_]*)@(\w+)\.(\w+)['"]?]]></searchFor>

<replaceWith><![CDATA[href="window.location.replace('ma'+'ilto:'+'$1'+'@'+'$2'+'.$3')"]]></replaceWith>

I've had that PHD email cloaker installed for a long time now and can confirm it actually works.

I had 6 email addresses widely published on the portal for months.. then all of sudden one of them started receiving spam and the owner complained to me about it. Searching all accounts for visiblity on Google returned no results apart from that one address - it had just recently been published in a directory on another site.

I thought that was pretty cool for a protection method I was intially sceptical about. The lesson of course is that you can't stop people publishing email addresses on unprotected pages elsewhere on the web.. and once the address is out there, it's over.

I treat the module simply as a minimum anti-spam measure.
