Question - I want to have a page that has lets say a few modules.  I want everyone to be able to see what is on that page.  But once they click on that module I want them to either have to login or have a page that tells them they have to be part of a certain group to have access.  How would I set this up to have that kind of page when they are not eligible?  Can i have someone able to view a module but not have access to it?

what is the difference between seeing and having access? you can provide a screenshot, visible for anonymous users and a working module available for registered members by setting appropriate permissions.

As far as I understand, you need to handle 3 situations:

1. registered users in appropriate role >> grant access
2. regustered users not in appropriate role >>no access, but ???
3. unauthenticated users >> request to login

• if your module has permission based access model, you grant access permission for role members only
• for unauthenticated users add a text/html module pointing them to the login page and telling them they need to login. this is not visible to registered users
