Feed Explorer module - ampersand

I've just been playing with the core Feed Explorer module. This is going to be a great addition to DNN once it's officially released.

I have a Url in my OML file which has an ampersand. If I try to included it as an & in the feed Url then the Feed Explorer displays the defaults, meaning something isn't quite right with the processing. If I use & it doesn't display the default, meaning it works fine.

The problem is that if I try passing & on the querystring to generate my RSS, it doesn't work.

For example, I'm using this Url (don't try it, it's a dummy):

http://www.domain.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/feeds.aspx?portalid=1&forumid=2&tabid=142&moduleid=798

Result
- Doesn't work in Feed Explorer, but works on the address bar to generate RSS

Then I try this:

http://www.domain.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/feeds.aspx?portalid=1&forumid=2&tabid=142&moduleid=798

Result
- Doesn't break Feed Explorer, but shows no items, nor does it work on the address bar

Has anyone come across this, or got any ideas of a quick fix?

Re: Feed Explorer module - ampersand

Has anyone got URLs containing ampersands (&) to work in the Feed Explorer module?

I've followed this post below but my problem remains:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/48/threadid/168802/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx

Nik mentions in the post above that 4.7 will have an update for the Feed Explorer.

Modified By Steve White on 12/3/2007 6:10:32 PM)

I just installed DNN 4.7 locally to further test the Feed Explorer module.

In the settings I have 'Custom OPML Text' selected and I replaced one of the default Url with this:

http://www.ventrian.com/desktopmodules/activeforumstopposts/feeds.aspx?tabid=35&moduleid=611

This didn't work as it showed the default display and I think it's because of the & in the Url.

I then tried using & instead. It didn't show the default which suggests that this is the correct method, but nothing gets returned.

Here's the OPML Text:

<outline text="Tab One" type="none" category="Tab">
    <outline text="Section 1" type="none" category="Section">
        <outline text="Category 1" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://www.ventrian.com/desktopmodules/activeforumstopposts/feeds.aspx?tabid=35&moduleid=611" />
        <outline text="Category 2" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
    </outline>
    <outline text="Section 2" type="none" category="Section">
        <outline text="Category 1" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
        <outline text="Category 2" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
    </outline>
</outline>
<outline text="Tab Two" type="none" category="Tab">
    <outline text="Section 1" type="none" category="Section">
        <outline text="Category 1" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
        <outline text="Category 2" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
    </outline>
    <outline text="Section 2" type="none" category="Section">
        <outline text="Category 1" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
        <outline text="Category 2" type="rss" category="Category" xmlUrl="http://news.google.com/?output=rss" />
    </outline>
</outline>
<outline text="DotNetNuke" type="link" category="Feed" xmlUrl="http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Portals/25/SolutionsExplorer/GlobalDirectory.opml" />

Does anyone have any clue what's going on here?

Re: Feed Explorer module - ampersand

Does anyone know the Team Lead for the Feed Explorer module? Not having much luck getting any info about the Feed Explorer.

I think it's a great addition to the default module list and it should have it's own Forum and team area.
