Google says "Unsupported file format" for my site map

I'm trying to improve my website ranking and saw that google could get to my sitemap because it had an "unsupported file format".  Is there a correct way to create a sitemap in dnn.  I just created a page and called it sitemap, then I populated with links to my pages and submitted it to google.  Any help please?

Re: Google says "Unsupported file format" for my site map

The sitemaps for google must be XML

DNN has built in sitemap support if you go to http://www.yourdomainname.com/sitemap.aspx

Re: Google says "Unsupported file format" for my site map

thank you so much for your reply.  I do have that page and somehow I must have populated it before.  It has the mostly links modules and text/html modules.  Is it not supposed to be that way?  Here is the link: http://www.mireauxms.com/sitemap.aspx  Thanks again for your help.

Re: Google says "Unsupported file format" for my site map
  • which DNN version are you running
  • you should not create a sitemap.aspx manually to use Google sitemap API

Re: Google says "Unsupported file format" for my site map

I'm running the latest version.  I just deleted some of the modules that were on my sitemap.aspx page but it obviously have the skin on it.  truly I don't remember how I did it, all I know is somehow I try to figure things out even though it takes me a while  I just want to get my google ranking up.  Of course we all do.  Thanks for your help.  Again you can look at the page at www.mireauxms.com/sitemap.aspx.
