I'm new to DNN and I'm considering using it to start up my own web development company.

I had planned on using a DNN hosting company and setting up some sort of reseller account with them.

I figured that I would have to set up a fresh account with the hosters for each of my customers so each one would have their own proper domain name i.e. www.bigcakes.com or www.learnspanish.com rather than have a portal off the address that I create i.e www.mattsmegadevelopment.com/bigcakes.

However, I have been reading the online help (yes I'm one of those) and I discoverd Portal Aliases.

Am I right in thinking that I can start a single account with the hosting company for www.mattsmegadevelopment.com and then set up new portals for each customer with a Portal Alias so that when someone types www.bigcakes.com they actually go to the www.mattsmegadevelopment.com/bigcakes but still only see www.bigcakes.com as the URL?

I hope I'm reading it right because it would be much cheaper froma hosting point of view.

That sounds good.

So I'll just point all my customers DNS registrations to the IIS box of the hosting company and if they've set it up correctly it will direct them all to my single DNN install which in turn will determine which portal and URL to display.
