Host login - View mode = No permission to home tab

I made a mistake of not backing up the web.config file and edited it with a "different" text viewer instead of notepad. Upon doing so, the whole web.config file was hosed and i had to grab the backup off the test server. I changed the excryption keys to what they are suppose to be and got the site back up.

BUT......

When i am logged in as the Host account, in edit mode, i will see the home tab fine. If i switch it to view mode, i get  "You do not have access to view this tab within the portal."  I also have this issue where the tab menu item disappears. Same for a person view the site for the first time. I reset my cookies and cache and still get it. I looked at the page edit permissions and the Administraor is greyed out for both Edit and view but checked.  I can see every module fine if i am in edit mode but as soon as i goto view mode. Thw whole page disappears. I tried urning off the Inheriet page permissions for a module but it still will not show.

I verified my machine key and decrypt key but they appear to be fine and i can login to the site fine. Now it is only the home page as another page appears fine. Is there a way i need to "Reset" the permissions for the Home page to get it to work? I tried bouncing the server and also reset application in the host settings thinknig it might be cache but no luck.

This one has me stumped, Any help will be greatly appriciated. The Event log and Server logs are not showing anything in the means of a security issue.

Re: Host login - View mode = No permission to home tab

Everyone,

I think the issue is becuase of the reboot and my fellow admin was editing the homepage, it appears that i have lost the three entries in the TabPermissions Table for the Home Tab. Now i see that the white paper "DotNetNuke provider Template" has the definition of the TabPermissions table but it doesnt explain what the values represent. If the Tabs table is defined for home (id 36) and i do not have a Tab id 36 for Tab permissions, can i just SQL those in?

What would be the insert statement to add the three permissions in? I do have a backup of the site but it is two weeks/ XX users old. I presume i can just duplicate the ones that exist on the old Table?

Thank you,

Dean
