Re: Can not login after transfering site to the new server?

Hi Ali,

Regarding (1):  Perhaps the most common cause for this problem is a change in the decryptionKey/validationKey in your web.config.  Confirm that, after transfer, this value has not changed: <machineKey validationKey="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" decryptionKey="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" decryption="3DES" validation="SHA1"/>.  If the validationKey is different than it was *when the users were created*, ASP.NET will be unable to validate the password hash, and you will not be able to login.

Regarding (2):  Look in your {objectqualifier}Portals table.  The column I believe you're looking for is "UserRegistration".  A value of "2" is public registration.

Hope this helps!

Brandon
