All Users unable to login - New users access just fine?

Greetings all,

I was contacted by one of my customers today who was having trouble logging in, assuming a simple forgotten password I tried to log into the SuperUser account to edit the user settings. However, it seems that all the users (multiple user accounts, admin, host) are all having their p/w rejected. Puzzled, I tried a quick refresh of the web.config file however that did not solve it. Just for giggles, I created a new user through the registration process and was able to log in with the new user no problem, however without Admin / SuperUser access, I can't change permissions, etc.

Has anyone seen this behavior before?

Thanks!

SB

Re: All Users unable to login - New users access just fine?

This would indicate that the MachineKey values in the web.config have been changed.  If the values are changed the system will not be able to work with the passwords in the database and it will not be able to log in existing users.

You can manually copy the password from a working account over to the host/admin accounts if needed.  I have a tutorial on this in my blog, I believe it is called Resetting ASP.NET Passwords
