ONCE NEW PORTAL IS CREATED, I CAN NOT ACCESS IT TO ADD NEW PAGES

Hi, if someone can help me with this I will appreciate that. I entered in dotnetnuke as the host/admin. I created a new portal but it give me an error about sending the e-mail that was not successful in that. It displayed a message that the portal is created and that I can access the site doing the login with the user name info I provided. I logout and try to enter with the new usercode and I have no access. But with the host/admin usercode I can access the portal (in portals page) and even change the settings. But only that, because any change I do is in the default portal.

All the new pages I create or delete are in the defalut portal because I can not login to add new pages on a specific portal.

Please help! Thanks.

Lissy

Re: ONCE NEW PORTAL IS CREATED, I CAN NOT ACCESS IT TO ADD NEW PAGES

Lissy and Rick,

I'm not fully understanding - are you working on a dev machine or live machine?  Did you create a parent or a child portal?

If dev machine check to make sure it's still using your port number - sometimes it also removes your project name from the url (http://localhost:1234/testdnn/default.aspx  ==> http://localhost/testdnn/default.aspx)

If live - Did you create the website in IIS?  Is it pointng to your root dnn folder?

I can only speculate unless I can get a little bit more info.

Andy

Re: ONCE NEW PORTAL IS CREATED, I CAN NOT ACCESS IT TO ADD NEW PAGES

Make sure you have the domain name you used (the alias field) when creating the portal pointed to your DNN website.  Go to GoDaddy or whomever you use to manage your DNS and make sure it's pointing to the correct IP address.

Sometimes I also have to go into IIS and add the domain into the 'host header' field on the DNN website before I can see the new portal.
