Please Help!!! Apparently this one is difficult to solve but iy is urgent for me!

Hi, if someone can help me with this I will appreciate that. I entered in dotnetnuke as the host/admin. I created a new portal but it give me an error about sending the e-mail that was not successful in that. It displayed a message that the portal is created and that I can access the site doing the login with the user name info I provided. I logout and try to enter with the new usercode and I have no access. But with the host/admin usercode I can access the portal (in portals page) and even change the settings. But only that, because any change I do is in the default portal.

All the new pages I create or delete are in the defalut portal because I can not login to add new pages on a specific portal.

Please help! Thanks.

Lissy

Can you type in the URL and navigate to the new portal?

You must be visiting the site via the NEW URL to be modifying values for that portal.

Re: Please Help!!! Apparently this one is difficult to solve but iy is urgent for me!

Hi Mitch,

If I am in the portals page, I am pointing to the following address:  http://localhost/dotnetnuke/Host/Portals/tabid/17/portalid/1/language/en-US/Default.aspx

If my site in the http alias is defined as www.test.com and I type that URL on the address it will point me to the internet and I am still doing the developing on my local machine. How I can define to work and do changes locally and how can I access the site to make changes?

Thanks for your help.

Lissy

Re: PLEASE HELP!! Apparently this one is difficult to solve but iy is urgent for me!

You need to put in a localhost alias in your tables to correspond with your IIS directory, something like localhost/test.local.

I would normally have aliases of

www.mysite.com, mysite.com and localhost/mysite.local

You should be ok then.
