Issue with XCopy upload-configure the DNN 4.8.4 which is installed locally -

I am unable to deploy / configure  site at server. I have done necessary changes, please help me to resolve the probable cause.

Url  :  http://cityoptics.co.uk/cityopticsdnn/website/default.aspx

It does not render default page it try to find path where to render. ( may be redirect issue.)

However, we were able to test a sample page at

 http://cityoptics.co.uk/cityopticsdnn/website/default2.aspx http://122.166.12.189/cityopticsdnn/

FYI, we have installed DNN Application on intenal server as seen in

 the url

Steps I followed to deploy site is at DASP( Discount ASP - hosting provider ) :

  1. Upload website folder of localy installed DNN  site to DASP server.

  2. Upload and Attache localy set database to DASP server

  3. create web application on website folder

  4. change in Table portalAlias Entry is : HttpAlias:  cityoptics.co.uk/cityopticsdnn/website   i have also tried with cityoptics.co.uk/cityopticsdnn and cityoptics.co.uk ( but none of this option working )

Note : At  intenal server i have set it to ( 122.166.12.189/cityopticsdnn ) , and it is working fine.

Further, Database connetion is working fine, as when we redirect to same application page.

Why i can not simple do Xcopy and paste website which i have done set localy , i dont think i need to do a fresh install at DASP server and add all content which i have allredy added to my internal - staging server.

Does this is related any way to Machine key (web.confing) , what is identical to set for webfarm ( like this DASP server).

please help on this , as i want make this live as early as possible.

Thanks in Advance for your support.

Regards

Nikhil

You need to post the full error, or the event log entry.  Turn off custom errors in web.config to see them.  Many of these are portal alias errors.

Re: Issue with XCopy upload-configure the DNN 4.8.4 which is installed locally -

Thanks for reply ,

Application is live now , i  have set portal alias as : cityoptics.co.uk/cityopticsdnn/website  and it worked , there was problem with webapplication upload , i have done this again to make sure all required files are uploaded corrrectly.

DNN website can view at http://cityoptics.co.uk

I understand out of this that we can do xcopy for application hosting.

can please explain me what does it mean by AutoGenerate,IsolateApps why it it will not work on webfarm.if we do not have to use this then what is the option if we do not pass this. Do we need to generate machine key at host server ?

<!--

Ensure validationkey is not set to AutoGenerate,IsolateApps so it correctly supports webfarms --><machineKey validationKey="******" decryptionKey="*****"  ..........
