Create an alias (redirection) using a different Domain

Is there a way to create a new web portal but assigning it a differnt domain. For example, the current domain root name is www.campbowwow.com and there are many portals created like www.campbowwow.com/us/co/denver or the alias of it www.campbowwow.com/denver. What I want to know is can i create the URL www.bowwowhomebuddies.com/denver as an alias of www.campbowwow.com/us/co/bowwowhomebuddiesdenver? (WOW i Hope that made sense...) I have purchased the domain www.bowwowhomebuddies.com but I don't have time enough to set up the redundancy behind it for when the client needs it. So as a temporary work around I was hoping to just be able to create an alias to direct to the main (www.campbowwow.com) domain, essentially making this new "website" a child portal of the main domain.

I created the virtual directory, added the portal, created a redirection (using the above example). But, when I type the URL www.bowwowhomebuddies.com/denver I get a 404 error. If i type the full URL i can get to the site no problem.

Any help would be reatly appreciated, I'm new to DNN and can use all the help i can get.

Thanks

Re: Create an alias (redirection) using a different Domain

you need to make sure, that the domain is pointing to the same web server and, if there are multiple web sites on the server, the correct web site by using Host Headers in IIS web site configuration of IP. Add the portal alias as any other to the DotNetNuke portal.
