I have a problem where my site is periodically redirecting users to the /Install/UnderConstruction.htm page that states the site is unavailable.  If they instantly try to navigate to the default page again, the site loads fine.  When I check the logs the only thing that looks unusual to me are the Application Shutting Down events with the detail "The AppDomain shut down because of the hosting environment".  These are occurring every 5-20 minutes in my event log.

I am on version 04.08 and my site has very few visitors per day.  My host is 3essentials.  I have verified that my AutoUpgrade flag is set to false, and I have played with the performance settings but that doesn't seem to help.

I have seen several threads out there on this issue but none of them seem to get resolution.  For now I have the UnderConstruction.htm page redirecting users to the default page, but this does slow down the loading of the page for the user.  I am desperate at this point and am really in need of some assistance.

Thank you, Brian

Brian,

It looks like you have two separate issues here.

First of all the app shutdowns are to be expected on a low activity website, if there is no traffic for 20 minutes by default ASP.NET will shutdown.  To get around this you can use a keepalive service such as Pingdom.com or Host-tracker.com to monitor your site every 15 minutes, that will prevent the shutdowns.

Secondly, the display of the /Install/UnderConstruction.htm page is a bit interesting as typically setting the "AutoUpgrade" setting to false will handle this issue.  My second guess would be that there is a temporary connection issue as the application is restarting.  i would triple check that both connection strings are valid.
