User Module on Home Page

I installed a 3rd party skin. Ever since when I attempt to add the user module to a page the loggin module appears instead. When I remove the loggin module on the new page the Home page is deleted. I have uninstalled the 3rd party skin. The only way to get back to normal is to delete the offending page in Admin, Pages. What is the problem?

Re: User Module on Home Page

Looks like a problem ( conflict ) with the 3rd parity skin.  Scheck it with the Standard Skin what is delivered with DNN.  If it is a problem with that 3rd parity skin, please get support from the vendor of the skin.

Re: User Module on Home Page

I uninstalled 3rd party skin and still experienced the same problem. When I added the user profile module to a new page the contents of my Home Page appeared but not the user profile. In addition to that problem, my "Register" function on the page that holds the Login doesn't take a user to the Registration module.

How do I reinstall the "Register" and "User Profile" modules?

It can also releadted to the install of the DNN while the permissions on the server are not setting right.  Some Hosting Software have some restrictions to setting permissions.  I have some knowledge on Plesk.  Also some wrong or missing settings can caused issues on installation if they missed in the web.config file.

Some 3rd parity skins used own controls, and it can be they changed the core controls or added some controles.  On not well coding it can be that there is no way back or uninstall that controls.

On the Link you have posted, I sawed a 3rd parity skin.

To help you, I need more information about the permissions on installing DNN of the DNN paths and the IIS and the configuring of the SQL Database.  Have you following the install instraction from the Install manuel?

You asking how to reinstall the register Modules.  This gives me a other question have you uninstall it? If yes I would say do never uninstall the Login and User Account module!  If you whish to use a 3rd parity user account module or login module, then first try it if they work probertly.

Re: User Module on Home PageI

I didn't install DNN with IIS nor configure the SQL database. It was all done by GoDaddy Hosting Connection wizards. GoDaddy installed the SQL and installed DNN. All I did was select the directory location and passwords, etc. As you have detected I'm not a "techy" I just want to operate a simple DNN website. The DNN documentation isn't very helpful. There is too much techinical terms used and doesn't match what I see on screen. For example, I want to "reinstall" DNN 4.0 but the closest I can find in the documentation is "upgrade to 4.0 from 3.0." On line there is page "http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Knowledge/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/3746/cid/550/Default.aspx" where the illustrations are missing in the "Step One - The DotNetNuke Installation Wizard - Version 4.08.02 page" instruction!

Where do I go for someone to just answer my questions without me having to decipher techy manuals?
