Restrict Admin Access

Is there a way to give a person admin access but not allow them access to the control bar or the admin menu?  I know this sounds like a silly question but we're migrating from catalook to ASPDotNetStoreFront and have found out in the process that a user must have admin priviliges on the site to administer the store.  Hence my question.  We do not want to give the store administrators full admin access to the website if at all possible ... Is what I'm asking possible?

Re: Restrict Admin Access

Hiding the toolbar from the admin could be tricky. You may have to wrap the toolbar in a containing div, and use a token or skin object to display it only for host users. And I think that the admin menu could be moved to the host menu by editing the db.

Re: Restrict Admin Access

You were right on with the db trick for hiding the admin menu.  Hiding the toolbar seems a bit trickier though.  The control panel is in a div but i'm not sure how to make it only display for host users from the ascx file.  Could you please expound on that suggestion?

Re: Restrict Admin Access

I have a control panel on my site that may fit the bill. From your description it will cover everything except for hiding it from them. However, you can remove most of the control panel with permissions currently. If I find some time I may add in the ability to hide it from them as well. It will also let you remove admin access from a admin menu item.

HTH's,

Re: Restrict Admin Access

Visible="<%User.IsSuperUser%>" or somthing to that affect. My understanding is that the userInfo object is loaded automatically by the core on each page load. There is a property called IsSuperUser. I haven't tested this particular case, but I have used these "tokens" in skins before.
