I've been experiencing an issue, whenever I launch a portal, where all the pictures on the site are broken. Before launching the site, I always make sure to update the Portal aliases. The live site pulls up, and works fine... but all the picture links are broken. The pictures are all fine on the localhost.

When I developed the site, it was in a virtual directory with a subdirectory (/akascr), I don't want the domain to require a sub-directory. if I move the site to mydomain.com/akascr, it works fine... but I don't want to have to put all my DNN sites in sub-directories just to solve this issue. I know I must be overlooking something.

P.S. - By launch, I mean just changing the nameservers of the domain name to the DNN server. I haven't moved anything, so I know it's not a permission issue. Both links go to the "same site."

Take a look:

Using the pre-launch address (works fine because of /akascr):
http://prat1.selfip.com/akascr

Same location... but using the domain name (all pictures broken):
http://www.aka-southcentralregion.com/default.aspx

I sincerely appreciate your response! Sorry to hear it's not something very simple to change. Hopefully there will be something in future versions to prevent this. I will download the module and give it a go!

What does everyone else do to get around this?

The problem is caused by the richtext editor control, which stored links relative of the domain root and not relative within the site. Unfortunately this is not easy to fix without introducing breaking changes. I still hope we will get it fixed when replacing the URLControl with a more powerful successor in DNN 5.1 or 5.2.
