Roles based on quantity instead of based on time

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how to setup roles in DNN to accept quantities instead of setting the end-time on roles. I would like to offer a subscription based on the number of records added. For each record added in a module the quantity in the role will be increased (by the module) and users will be able to add records as long as they haven't reached the maximum within their role. A manual override would be great as well.

I haven't seen anything like this in the DNN roles, but this feature would open up possibilities for quantity based subsriptions instead of only time based subscriptions.

What do you think??

Regards,
Marc

Re: Roles based on quantity instead of based on time

Marc,

you will need to provide a custom subscription module (e.g. based on the one from www.ventrian.com) which queries the base table (items to count) when offering role subscription. you might also create a database trigger for auto-subscription. Do not modify core tabled directly!

Re: Roles based on quantity instead of based on time

 Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply.

I was a kinda hoping this could make it into the framework so that both core and 3rd Party modules would increase the number when data has been entered. Having it altered by a vendor would create a dependancy on that vendor for something what can be beneficial to many. Off course, modules would require changes in order to make use of such a (great) feature.
