Connected/Linked Modules

I am trying to determine the best way of displaying a large result set with the ability to narrow down the list.  For example, the repository module has the ability to narrow by category.  I am wondering if there is another way to do this as the repository module doesn't do exactly what I want.  I could make it work, but I would rather have user defined fields for data entry instead of a RTF free-form field for the description information.

In any case, is there a module that will allow me to do "master/detail" type displays or give me the ability to filter in a UDT?

TIA

Mark

Mark,

can you give more details, what you are looking for? Please describe your use case. We are currently developing a module, that allows depending modules with filtered view, so you might have one module with a complete (user defined) table and another one, using the data source of first module, but with a filter expression (even with page name as a parameter). Is this, what you are looking for? you can see a live demo here, in order to try settings, please log in as user "demo-en", password "demo".

The login is actually "demo-en" and "demo."

My basic requirements (use case) is just like the repository module except with custom user fields.  I would like a way to select fields for the users to "filter" the list.  In addition, a way to moderate the list entries.  I looked and your module would be great!  I am not sure how a user will filter the data, but I do see a way to filter the data in the module itself (just not user selectable).

Would I be able to purchase the module soon?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Connected/Linked Modules

Sorry for that mistake Mark,

it seems, that I had been too long on the computer yesterday.

If you go to "Manage Data Source", there is a "Data Filter" section at the bottom. You can specify the number of Records or enter an expression like "Prename Like A%" or "CreatedDate > Now(-7)", to get only the entries of the last 7 days. You can also specify "isCurrentTab(category)", if you define the category as a link, pointing to portal tabs (that is a bit tricky) - we use this for a customer, a house care taking company, who has a central file repository and single pages for each of their houses, where house owners have access to. On this pages, we put modules using the datasource withe an isCurrentTab filter, to display only the documents for this house - in fact, we use multiple modules on each page, to separate doc categories as well. The great advantage is, that you can duplicate a house's page with the modules, and it works without further modifications.

We are currently testing permissions and notification, we still have to add start view configuration, so the module can easily be used as a data collecting form as well. Next is to allow (secured) access to SQL data sources and the last function remaining for the release is template management, so you can easily start with an existing solution and modify it, to fit your individual needs.
