Controlling the login control???

I was wondering how others are dealing with sites similar to mine.

I've got several pages within the site that are for specific user roles only. (I did not make them portals for various reasons)  I want to be directed to those pages when I login as a user within those specific roles. Or alternatively when I go to those pages I am prompted to login.

As I understand it the login control will always put you back at the home page after a successful login.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to work around this limitation? Are there other third party components out there that would work better?

Thanks for any advice.

J

Re: Controlling the login control???
I just got the new releases email from snowcovered.com and this was one of the releases:

http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=4816

I don't know much about this product but the description leads me to believe it is what you are looking for:

"Redirect roles to a page within your dnn site"

"Redirect specific users to a page within your dnn site"

Re: Controlling the login control???
Thanks.
I've found a couple of  other helpful modules too. "Dynamic Login" by Springboard I think.

Looks good and fairly inexpensive.
I'm trying to keep my pool of modules that I use small and as close to the core as possible to help minimize after deployment support. So I was hoping that others had run across some creative ways of doing logins with the core module.

Thanks again for the reference.

Re: Controlling the login control???
I have looked at the redirect controls but I have also noticed that on many sites I visit that if I login I am taken back to the page I was on prior to login. Can someone who has a site that does this please speak up and talk about what is going on. Even this site brings you back to the same area. My site always goes back to the home page no matter where I login. Makes me think something is going on.

Re: Controlling the login control???

I'm trying to use Dynamic Login but I'm having a problem getting it to redirect.  Also, I can't get them to respond to my tickets.  I have two pages that work, and one that doesn't.  Also, it doesn't actually redirect, it just creates a link that says continue.... which redirects the user to the site if they click the link.
