Seach box skinning - Default Text?

I ran through Lee's tutorials on skinning the search box (DNNCreative.com, great value for the price...) and was thinking about trying to add a "Search..." text in the search box.  Can't seem to find a way to skin this, but I see it on plenty of web sites.  Of course, I don't have an example right at hand...  :)

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: Seach box skinning - Default Text?

Um I could be wrong haven't really worried to much about the search yet, but I would assume you need to set the default textbox value to the text you want it to say. Best method for doing this um couldn't say. I personally will probably just go in and alter the search's code a bit to set it as a default, but could probably also do it with javascript as well. Since after all an asp.net tag really is just special html to the client.

Re: Seach box skinning - Default Text?

I can set it through JavaScript, but I'm not really thrilled with that solution.  A normal TextBox you could use default text but it's not availble throught he DNN:Search control, as far as I can see, without modifying the ASCX.  Our latest discussion about the Search control has been whether we should even use it.  It's limited in many ways and we have quite a few documents that we'd like to index outside of the database and include in the search.  Might end up with custom code anyway, or just dropping in a Google search.
