Sebastien you are correct but typically developers using absolute use it for the whole layout which does not work well. If you use absolute elements that have a relative relationship then you are correct it works wonderfully. I just tend to warn against build the whole layout via absolute positioning cause you will run into more headaces then it would be to position things relative. I have a bunch of clients that quickly learned that lesson the hard way.
