2 different menus...possible or not?

Hi, Everyone.

I'm trying to have the solpartmenu display only the very top level of the pages and have a different, side menu show the contents, without actually showing the top menu's name.

Sort of like this:

             --------------------                    ------------                    -----------
            |   COUNTRIES   |              |  STATES |                |  CITIES |
             --------------------                    ------------                    -----------

          --------------------------
          -   Jamaica             -
          -   Barbados           -
          -   Lithuania            -
          --------------------------

Does anyone know if this is possible (without typing in the the list of sub-level list by hand, that is) ?

Many thanks in advance!

L

Re: 2 different menus...possible or not?

I sure hope so, otherwise it's not working on some of the sites I deal with.  :)

There are a number of menus that let you specify the top level to display.  I personally like House Menu and the Snapsis menu, but you can choose from many others as well.

Re: 2 different menus...possible or not?

Yes, this is possible with the solpart menu. If you look at the Skinning doc they show an example of creating multiple content panes leveraging the skin.xml file. In the doc you wil see CONTENT:1 CONTENT:2

It works the same way with the solpart menu. you will have the following in you skin.xml file.

<Token>[SOLPARTMENU]</Token>

<Token>[SOLPARTMENU:1]</Token>

You can then configure each menu in a different fashion one that is horizontal and only shows the root menu and  a vertical one that starts at the first child. Really you can do many things with it.

I know this isn't very detailed, but I hope it will point you in the right direction.

Thanks,

 John
