How do I modify an ASCX file?

I am trying to modify my skin file.

I make the change, upload it to /portals/_default/skins/myskin/ directory, try to reload it and I get this error:

Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/_default/Skins/myskin/skin-fixed width.ascx  Error: The file '/Portals/_default/myskin/Admin/Skins/Logo.ascx' does not exist.

Well of course it doesn't exist. It was never there to begin with!

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to re-parse the skin or something?

Thanks in advance.

Jeffery Davis

Re: How do I modify an ASCX file?

What file are you changing and how are you uploading it.

If you are changing HTML skin files and uploading by FTP, then yes you need to reparse it - there's a link for that on the skin page.

If you are changing HTML and packaging then uploading it as a whole new skin package then it will parse by itself - but it cannot overwrite a skin already in use.

There may be something else wrong but you'll need to provide more detail.

Your path is wrong .. check that this line is correct in your .ascx - it must have the tilde "~" sign:

<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="LOGO" Src="~/Admin/Skins/Logo.ascx" %>
