Manipulate SQL2000

Hey All,

Not sure this is the proper thread, but still; what I have is;

A club (samba-band) website, with simple access db behind it. Some club members can edit some tables, for example; our percussion instructor can place people in different sections to see how well every section is covered on the next performance. He simply changes the primary instrument for that person, then on a different page the result is shown.

Now, I want to move the whole lot to DNN with SQL 2000. So how do I go about; creating the tables that the instructor can edit, the page that pulls the data back from the db and so on?

I really need a step by step here..tried the user defined table, but don't see how to pull out the table again, filter based on instrument, and so on...

Anyone? Thanks!

Maddie

Re: Manipulate SQL2000

I'm in a scimilar situation.

I need to display the contents of a database table and provide some easy method of editing the contents of that table.

Like MadSeven I'm going to need a step by step as I've got asbsolutely no idea how to do it.

Re: Manipulate SQL2000
Let me get this straight you want information from a database displayed on the page but only certain people will have access to change/edit it? You can use a DataGrid control, and change its edit state to only certain people and for others display a message stating that they don't have access to make changes. What language/version of DNN are you planning on using?

Re: Manipulate SQL2000

Thanks for the feedback..I'm using DNN4, but I'm so used to simply writing my "sql" statements in Dreamweaver (or rather, DW writes them for me), that i'm at a loss. In the current situation I use a display page for members, and an edit/add/remove page for one person with appropriate rights.

So, I suppose I need a module that lets me write and test queries, but also lets me display results in a decent way. Whats the popular tooling for that in DNN?
