Single Login at Parent with redirect to indivudal child portal

Hi Folks,

First let me wish everyone out there a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I have a setup with a single parent and several child portals ie: www.site.com, www.site.com/A, www.site.com/B, www.site.com/C

The parent is to be the main entry point for all users so I would like to have a login facility on the parent that would then redirect and login the user to the appropriate child portal. eg: User B is assigned to www.site.com/B. They use the login facility at the parent and then get redirected and automatically logged into their child portal.

I am using Onytak's Portal Signup module to enable visitors to create their own portals so child portals will be created frequently, these people will not be created as users in the parent portal.

So what I am thinking of is a module that takes the entered user ID and password and then searches the DNN database to find the correct portal for that login ID. The module would then automatically login that person to their child portal. I know there are auto login modules available including ones that take a querystring to login, but in these cases the module also needs to exist in the child portal. As my child portals are created by visitors I am looking for a module that only exists on the parent.

Clear as mud.

Does anyone out there know of such a module, if not could anyone create one for me, I am willing to pay.

Many thanks in advance for any help given

Tony Stallan

Re: Single Login at Parent with redirect to indivudal child portal

Hi Tony,

I have implemented something very close to this and could help out.

Your post title implies that they are logged into the parent portal. If that is the case, the user can be auto logged into their child portal, which would sign them out of the parent portal (I believe) due to a single DNN forms cookie.

Re: Single Login at Parent with redirect to indivudal child portal

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the offer.

I actually do not want them to log into the parent portal. The login facility on the parent will not be the usual login module but just a couple of entry fields and a button that says login ;-)

Does that make it clearer ?

Tony

Re: Single Login at Parent with redirect to indivudal child portal

Tony,

Okay, so then their will be entry fields for the child portal name, user/account name, and account password ?

That module is quite possible. You can reach me at my website www.walkspoiled.com via the contacts page to get into additional details.

Jim
