Error trying to reference dotnetnuke.dll

I just started following the Seabury tutorial videos and when trying to make a reference to the dotnetnuke.dll I get the following error message: a reference to c:\...dotnetnuke.dll could not be added. This is not a valid assembly or COM component. I am using VS.Net 2003 and DNN 4.0.2. I tried to use regsrv32 on the dll to make sure it was registered properly and that also gave me an error saying that the dll was loaded, but the DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Error trying to reference dotnetnuke.dll

you do not need to regsvr32 .net dll's, they are self describing through their assembly metadata. I don't know why you would get that error I've never seen it before, please try recompiling the solution and trying again.

Re: Error trying to reference dotnetnuke.dll

When you say recompile the solution, do you mean I have to remove the dotnetnuke directory and go thru the install procedure again or open the site using the install option?

Also, If I recompile the solution will my existing site remain or do I need to copy some files as a backup?
