Thanks for your efforts - but

none of these options or variations works.  I even tried some escaping "\" of quotes

but still the only response I get is a javascript error on the page when I click the link.

I even tried the suggestion by the post below this - who said just to place an "*" in front of the original

* window.location.reload(); window.open("http://www.yourlinkhere.com")  - and this does not work either.  There MUST be a simple way to do this - Hmmm!
