Lets say. There is the core module ' LINKS ' or any other core module that comes with default installation.

Is there a way so I can write another ' LINKS ' module with the same stuff, but with mode functionalities, lets say ' still compatible with the original version, but also better.

Can I override an existing core module somehow ?  With my installation but with the same name ? Possible ?

When you change module name, you ensure, that your fork does not get overwritten during upgrades. To avoid any conflict, you also should modify the namespace of the module, otherwise the installation might get issues, when your modules and the original one are installed both.

Hmm But like. But creating a module with another name is not the same thing as upgrading an existing module, you know.  This way it will just be another module.

I wanted to tweak the core modules, but still have the original modules working, just with better functionalities.

By adding a new module like you guys said, I would have to replace the existing instances to the new ones. In a situation that you have 10000 pages with modules, it's not very confortable : )

So, are gyou guys saying that updating the existing core module and mantain the same name is not possible to do, or just is not a good thing to do?
