Effecion Articles Module 3.3.0

I made the mistake of installing Effecion Articles module 3.3.0 before I realized that the module was dead and no one was working on it. This beta version of the module causes a lot of system event errors and causes the filesystemsync schedule to abort about 50% of the time. What are my options at this time?

1) Find someone that has fixed the module.

2) Replace the module with the last working version, is this possible?

3) Move the module to an archive area and change the main parts of the site to something that works.

Anything else?

Re: Effecion Articles Module 3.3.0

1) I am not aware of anyone

2) you cannot downgrade modules, sorry

3) this might not help with your errors

You might need to substitute the module with a different module (with less errors) and try to move over the content. I suggest to have a look at MagicNews from www.portalfabrik.net or NewsArticles from www.ventrian.com.

Re: Effecion Articles Module 3.3.0

[I tried to following.

1) Export all the articles to xml.
2) Delete all the modules and remove the module from the portal.
3) Install the older module.
4) Import all the articles from the xml file.
5) Run a script to approve all the articles.

There are two issues though. First, the author becomes whoever imported the file and second, the comments are orphaned.]

I found that the 3.3.0 might be alright and that it is 3.3.3 that is really bad. But I should have known that as it is listed as Alpha.

I am wondering if I can take the 3.3.0 code that I have and without compiling it modify the version number to 3.3.4 and install it over the 3.3.3 code that is currently installed on the production server?

Thanks

Re: Effecion Articles Module 3.3.0

altering the version number  to 3.3.3 should work, otherwise you might encounter issues when installing a later version.
